Check to see if your State Insurance Department has issued a Bulletin for areas affected by a weather event, natural disaster, or other emergency. Your premium payment due date may be extended. Please call Customer Service at 800-635-7801 if you need assistance.

Florida – September 30, 2024. Governor Ron DeSantis provided updates for Florida policyholders following Hurricane Helene, including the issuance of an emergency order by the Office of Insurance Regulation to protect policyholders impacted by the storm. Insurers are required to allow a grace period for premium payment and allow coverage to remain in effect despite late or nonpayment of premiums for policyholders in the following counties: Alachua, Charlotte, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Franklin, Hamilton, Hernando, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lee, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, Suwannee, Taylor, and Wakulla counties. The grace period remains in effect until November 26, 2024.

New Mexico – June 18, 2024. The New Mexico Superintendent of Insurance has declared an emergency disaster in Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Reservation after the recent devastating wildfires. There is a 120-day do not lapse period on health insurance policy cancellations or non-renewals due to non-payment of premiums to policyholders impacted by the wildfires. Impacted policyholders may request a payment plan of no less than six months if unable to pay after the 120-day grace period.

North Carolina – September 30, 2024. Based upon the disaster created by Tropical Storm Helene, Insurance Commissioner Causey issued an order that requires insurers to allow a grace period for premium payment and allow policyholders coverage to remain in effect despite late or nonpayment of premiums in the following counties: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, Yancey. The Disaster Declaration also applies to the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians of North Carolina. The grace period remains in effect until November 29, 2024.

South Carolina – October 1, 2024.  South Carolina Department of Insurance has asked insurers to extend relief all South Carolina residents impacted by the recent storm. Insurers are requested to work with impacted residents by providing an extension on premium payment deadlines, allowing additional time before nonrenewal(s) or cancellations become effective, providing extensions on proof of loss deadlines and waiving fees, penalties or other charges relating to an insured’s temporary inability to submit premium payments, or otherwise respond as a result of this disaster event through October 25, 2024.

Tennessee – September 27, 2924. Due to Hurricane Helene’s impact causing severe weather and flooding in Tennessee, Governor Lee has issued a major disaster and state of emergency which calls for insurers to make reasonable efforts to assist all Tennessee policyholders who have experienced loss due to severe weather and requests that insurers work with policyholders before cancelling for non-payment of premiums through November 26, 2024.
